LENT

We have had a busy last few weeks at HFS, during this time of Lent. On Shrove Tuesday, we watched the palms burn in preparation for Ash Wednesday. We used the palms left from Palm Sunday last year.

Then we used the ashes for our celebration on Ash Wednesday.

At this celebration we thought about something we could do or give up during Lent. Our Social Justice Student Leadership Team has been encouraging us to donate money to Project Compassion.
What have you been doing at St Genevieve's during Lent?

  1. Hi,
For Lent we are asked to give something up like
your favorite food, toy or drink. We have to be nice to everyone and respect them.We take little project compassion boxes home, and when the're full we bring them to school and empty them into the big project compassion box in our class room.We have a grid to fill up so we can see how much money we have raised. In our class we have raised 58 dollars and in our school we have raised 401 dollars.

  2. Hi
We’re having Catholic Schools Week. On Thursday we’re having a whole school mass to celebrate and on Friday we can come back to school for a sausage sizzle. We’re also celebrating Lent and getting ready for Easter. We’ve changed the banners in our church and the cloth on our prayer table to purple. We’re doing lots of exiting things.
